Sermon Topic: You
Will Reap What You Sow
Sermon Notes:
We
prosper in all areas of life when we obey the word of God. We must have a high
regard and a great respect for God. Judges 8:23 – the Lord rules over us all.
We give all honor to God by our actions, possessions and in our worship. In all
these things we must honor God. If you want an harvest, a sound mind – we must
honor God.
We
shouldn’t be taking anything for granted. God knows what’s best for us. John
5:23 – we must honor the father and the son. All men must honor the son just as
they honor the father. We must honor God in all we say and do.
We
honor God by worshipping him. Psalm 50:23 – He will show his salvation to those
who have the right conversation and mannerism.
Salvation
= healing + deliverance + blessings
We
honor God by how we treat each other. There is a consequence for not honoring
God. Proverbs 28:8 – it does no good to gain things in an ungodly manner. Honor
him with your first fruit. We should always give God the best.
If
he doesn’t get the best, 2nd best isn’t blessed. God has promised us
plenty. When we are obedient. All we have to do is obey God and all of our
needs are met.
Genesis
27:28 – This is the protection and blessing when we’re obedient to God. This is
the promise for obedience.
When
we serve, whatever we do will prosper. We must get a spiritual understanding of
who we are to Christ. Romans 14:8 – we belong to God. Hebrews 10:35 – we can’t
do what we want to do and expect God to bless us.
We need to be concerned about those who aren’t in worship. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – my life is not my own and my body is not my own. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Glorify God in our body and in our spirit. I must be a good steward of m possession. Our primary responsibility is to be available to God.
So
he can use us.
He
evaluates our faithfulness based on what we have. What will you do with what
you have now. He promised us plenty. We must use what we have to glorify God.
There
will be no lack when you give to God.
We
must act in faith with the belief that God gives it back to you. He will keep
you. God proves himself. He tests us in the areas of material things. These are
the areas where man is most vulnerable.
We
must give 10% and be good stewards of the 90% remaining. We must be
responsible. The wicked will always have lack in their lives. Proverbs 28:19 –
We must get our income the right way. When someone hurries to get rich they’re
doing something ungodly.
Isaiah
1:19 – if you be willing and obedient you will eat the good of the land.
We
really don’t want for anything. We are provided for. When we receive these
things we must understand that riches can be a blessing from the Lord. 1
Chronicles 29:13 – everything belongs to God. As believers our attitude must
acknowledge that it comes from God.
Acknowledge
God in all of our transactions. Don’t forget that it all belongs to him. We are
just stewards for a short time.
Everything
that we have is a gift from God. What we do – we devote our riches to God to
support the work of the ministry; to give to the poor.
We
don’t put our trust in riches. Put your trust in the Lord. We are blessed –
truly blessed. Our state of being isn’t based on what we have – it’s based on
who we know – never forget God.
Proverbs
3:9-10- honor God. Then the blessings will come. When you honor God without
being obedient to him. He will command the blessings to come to you.
There’s
nothing that we need – God supplies our needs and gives us the desires of our
hearts. The key to true wealth is humility and the fear of the Lord. Where
there is peace, material things matter little. What profit a man to have riches
and no peace – seek first the kingdom and all will be added to us.
If
I’m seeking the kingdom – I don’t have to worry. Don’t worry about rejection –
God takes care of that. We must honor and acknowledge him.
We
can have peace in our lives because we are in the world. Before we ask – what
we need is already in place. He wants us to do the right thing.
There
is a purpose for everything that happens in our lives. True riches is that when
Christ returns we will go back with him that’s the blessing.
Our
children are not our own, we must be good stewards over them as well.
