The Promises of God

Sermon Date:  May 18, 2016

Sermon Topic: The Promises of God

Sermon Notes:

The promises of God reveals his purpose to which he is committed. It reveals what we can depend on. The promises are conditional on our being obedient. God is absolutely trustworthy. Number 23:19 – God will not lie. We are in a covenant with God.
Genesis 22:15 – By myself I have sworn. We need to trust God enough to release it without hesitation.

When we obey the voice of God; promises become reality. We have a right to all the promises of God. God has the power to fulfill his promises.

Isaiah 55:11 – my words will accomplish what it’s supposed to. When God says we’re blessed we don’t need to see anything because we walk by faith.

When you don’t need to see material things to feel blessed you are at the point.

He’s faithful in keeping his promises.

Hebrews 10:23 – He is faithful. A double minded man is unstable. When we trust in God we can’t doubt no matter how long it takes. God’s promises come from his glory. We need not do anything but walk by faith.

2 Peter 13:4 – His divine power has given us all the things that pertain to life. We receive these things by faith and our covenant with God.

All of his promises are fulfilled in Christ. Christ has the right to make promises on God’s behalf. God’s promises must be received by faith. When we face a shortage in our lives, we must walk by faith. We must know that it will be fulfilled; not how, but we know it will be fulfilled.

There may be a delay or some distractions or times when God says, “not now”. He knows better than we do on when we should receive it. There are times when you just have to wait for it. We shouldn’t take matters into our own hands wait on God.

We must discipline ourselves to not ask for a blessing. We already have a blessing. When we continuously ask for the blessing we don’t have the power to patiently wait for God.

God deals with faith. I have the faith to believe. It is so. It’s already ours.

We must be disciplined to not say what we don’t have. It’s not right in front of me but I do have it.

God will never leave nor forsake us. God knows what he’s doing. Hebrews 13:5 – Let our conversation be without covetous.  When you’re praying you’re not trying to get something that you don’t need.

We have the presence of God and the peace of God.

Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing. Discipline your mind so you don’t doubt God’s ability. Let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God prevents me from worrying about the request.

We are at peace while we wait. If you’re at peace you can’t worry. It takes the knowledge of God.

My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. Once you apply the word to your life you are not defeated.

God knows what we’ll do long before we do it. We have the promises and the security – guaranteed. Safety from danger or loss can only be found in God.

The Holy Spirit leads and guides us. We have the security from danger and loss.

Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon formed against you will prosper.  This is the heritage of the service of the Lord. We don’t lose a battle.

Be careful not to take the battle on. Stand still and see the salvation, victory and deliverance that God will bring in your lives.

We have a security in God. Our security is in him. John 10:28 -29 – We shall never perish. Never allow doubters to sow a seed of doubt into your spirit. No matter what you do, God has already ordained you. All of our needs are fulfilled in Christ. Your past, present and future needs have already been taken care of. We have security in Christ from danger. Psalm 46 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Say what God says in his word.

He is my shepard.
