I Remember Mama - Mother's Day 2015 Message

Sermon Date:  May 10, 2015

Sermon Topic: I Remember Mama

Scriptures: 2 Timothy 1:5-6, Proverbs 22:6, Proverbs 1, 2 Timothy 1:6

Sermon Notes:

2 Timothy 1:5-6 - When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. In today’s society being a mother is an awesome task. It can be difficult when God is removed from public places.

Anything goes in this society – So your kids have little chance of having Christian values, unless you teach them.

Some churches aren’t preaching the gospel because they don’t want to offend anyone. Watered down version of preaching.

Whether you like it or not the gospel is the gospel. Pastor has been instructed in season and out to preach the gospel.

Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. It is our responsibility to teach the kids about the gospel. The word of God is your guide for living.

Proverbs 1 – the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but some folks don’t want to hear what God says.

In this society kids know exactly what to do, if they are disciplined. They simply call 911. If you train them up properly they wont have to dial 911. If they know that you are the parent and they respect you they will know better.

Reverence of the Lord is required. Forsake not the law of thy mother.

The ministry of the gospel is no place for timid souls or lack of enthusiasm.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Its essential for any kind of understanding. Stir up the gift of God. 2 Timothy 1:6 - Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

Godly mothers have all the resources needed.

Wisdom is the principle thing but you must also get understanding. In the word of God is instruction for marriage, family, jobs and children.

Godly mothers have the responsibility to know how to parent.  Proverbs 1:8 - My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother.

Timothy remembered the character of the grandmother and mother. It didn’t come through hereditary but by prayer. They know how to run the household. A child left to himself, brings shame to his mother.

Children have to watch who they hang with. They have so miuch against them. It takes mom and grandmother help them.

It’s time for mothers and fathers to stand up and say enough is enough.

The greatest thing is love – so we love.

We need Godly women to carry on the work of God.

Who will stand on the word of God?

Teach your children!
