Understand the Real You in Christ

Date: October 12, 2014
Sermon Topic: Understand the Real You in Christ
Sermon:

For ye are all children of God by faith in Jesus Christ. We are spirit beings – we live in this body, but we have a soul. What you see (flesh and blood) will not inhabit heaven.

We have the blessings of God now. Guard your tongue and discipline your speech.

Ephesians 1:3- God has already chosen and blessed us – before he created the world he chose us. We were chosen to be holy and without blame before him in love.

Don’t allow people to tear you down. We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.

Apply the word to your life everyday. The word is our roadmap, help and daily bread.

John 14:21-I can’t say that I love Jesus if I don’t keep his word. If a man loves me, he will keep my word. Everything serves us because of our relationship with Christ.

John 15-If you abide in me and my word abide in you. You can ask whatever you want.

We have to use the scripture to determine how we live. Cast your cares on him for he cares for you.
Let the peace of God rule in your hear. Submit yourself to the word of God-hold to the truth - no matter the cost.

There must be a complete dedication and commitment. Matthew 6:24 – No man can serve two masters.

Change your thinking-God is able to keep you in the midst of the storm – no fear – God didn’t give us a spirit of fear.

The quality of your preparation determines the quality of your performance.

Prepare by meditating on the word – day and night!

Begin to think like the person you really are – a winner.

The conditions we chose to live with speaks volumes about who we believe we are.

Winning is a personal decision – not an event. My decisions determine my circumstances.

3 Keys to Living a Kingdom Lifestyle

-          Your associates – Psalms 119:53 – be around those who fear the Lord and keep his precepts. A companion of fools shall be destroyed.

-          Separation – Psalms 141:4 – Don’t be a partaker of evil or wickedness. You must come out from under them.

-          Self-control – We need self-control, even with our speech. Once it’s out you can’t put it back in. Set a watch on my mouth Oh Lord. Keep my lips. No matter how upset you get – Don’t say it. 1 Peter 1 – as obedient children not like you were before you were saved.

We need to develop a holy conversation.

Get a positive image of yourself.

Images are more powerful than words. If you can change an image you can change your behavior.

The greatest part of happiness depends on your disposition – not your circumstances.

You should be able to handle a trial.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but you must have faith – it’s working for my good.
