Sermon Topic: Don’t
Worry, Be Happy
Scriptures: 1 Peter 5:7, Proverbs 15:
13 – 15, Philippians 4:8, Romans 12: 14 – 15 , Philippians 4:6 – 7
Sermon Notes:
The
future is set. The world denies God’s wisdom by saying he doesn’t know what
he’s doing. This worry makes us worry that we have enough to live on. Our
bodies are intended to be our servant, not our master. We are here to love,
worship and to represent God’s love to the world. Can we add a single moment of
our life by worrying? God controls it all.
Don’t
worry be happy.
Why
do you worry about the future? It is only an insult to God. It’s futile to
dwell on worry. What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we ear?
Seek
first the kingdom of God. Live holy and righteous. God made a covenant, if we
put him first, he will supply our needs. Tomorrow will bring its’ own worry.
Live one day at a time.
Do
what you can today tomorrow may never come.
-
Worry damages your health
-
Damages productivity
There
is a difference between worry and concern.
1 Peter 5:7 – Casting all your care upon him; for he
careth for you. Cast your worries on God.
Worry
shows that you don’t trust God. It takes humility to set your pride aside, be
humble and don’t submit to circumstances. Take your burdens to the Lord.
Proverbs 15: 13 – 15 – A merry heart maketh a cheerful
countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. The heart of him
that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on
foolishness. All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry
heart hath a continual feast. These scriptures remind you how to be happy.
What
we feed our mind is as important as what we feed our bodies. What you feed your
mind influences your overall health. Our attitude covers our whole personality.
Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are
true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these
things. Dwell on the good things of life.
Look
at your attitude. Look at what you choose to dwell on.
Don’t
worry Be happy.
Romans 12: 14 – Bless
them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do
rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
-
Worry can bring on stress, headaches, mood swings, anger, appetite
fluctuations and nervous breakdowns.
-
There’s no need to run to the doctors office for a cure unless you’re
running to Jesus.
Philippians 4:6 – Be
careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God,
which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.
Don’t
worry about anything, pray about everything. Let his peace guard your heart and
mind.
Don’t
worry be happy.
