Bible Study Notes:

God’s commitment to his purpose will never violate his spoken word. Prayers are not only effective in our lives it’s also effective in the lives of those we pray for. Paul prayed for wisdom and understanding for the church in Ephesians. Jesus Christ, savior is the same as Christ our Lord.

Ephesians 3:13 – I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.

Prerequisite for prayer - Don’t be afraid to ask God for what you need, according to his word.
You must be rooted and grounded in the word. There must be a foundation.

James said to call on those who are seasoned in the word to pray. Everyone can’t pray for you. Some people don’t have the right mindset or their relationship isn’t in order. Our primary focus should be to pray for others instead of for ourselves.

If we only pray for ourselves, our prayer lives become selfish.

Romans 13:1 – Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

The powers that be are ordained by God. Every leader in place has been placed there for a reason.
Whoever resists that power, resist God and face damnation. We must obey those who are over us.
We are heaven’s representative in the earth. God gave the power to man in the earth.

Luke 10:19 -20 – I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. We have the authority to ask for anything. Prayer pleads the name of Jesus.

We are heaven’s representative in the earth. God gave the power to man in the earth.

John 13:14 – You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. There is an order to our prayers. We yield to the will of Christ in prayer.

The following are key components to answered prayers:

-        Faith
-        Praise
-        Adoration
-        Worship
-        Confession

8 Laws of Prayer

1.     Faith – we must have faith when we approach God. Hebrews 11:6 – with faith in God, I am not anxious about anything.

2.     Boldness – Hebrews 4:16 We don’t pray in a state of worry. You must come boldly to the throne. Know that he is a rewarder. You have the right to make your requests to God.

3.     Right relationship – We need to have the right relationship. Everything we discuss must be in place. Mark 11:24-25 Un-forgiveness is one of the reasons for unanswered prayers. We need to forgive.

4.     The will of God - 1 John 5:14 When you ask according to his will, he hears us. When I rely on God and his promises I have the assurance that what I ask of God I shall receive.

5.     Confidence – We must be confident that God will work in every area of our lives. 2 Chronicles 20:17. Conviction of God – Stand still and see the salvation. We must have confidence in every promise of God in every aspect. Never allow anything, anyone or any circumstance to cause you to doubt the word of God. God won’t change. You can stand on the word of God. Be careful – don’t allow time to change your belief system, because God has already told us that his way is not our way.

6.     Don’t pre-determine how God will answer your prayers - Philippians 4:6 – We have a promise, an agreement from God. I have confidence that when God answers my prayer, it will satisfy my needs. He knew what we needed before we asked.

The law of the Holy Spirit Romans 8:26 – The blood of Jesus. You can plead the blood.

7.     The law of praise – Psalm 34:1 - has nothing to do with how you feel or what you’re dealing with, you will bless the Lord at all times. No matter what is going on in my life – praise is coming out.  He inhabits the praise of his people. Praises brings God into the midst of whatever we are dealing with.
8.     Reverence – You must fear God. You have the power to deliver when you have reverence for God. Everything is predicated on our faith in God.

There is no want for those who have faith in Christ – cast away anxieties, if you believe it, you shall have it. We have confidence in God’s deliverance, word and promises.

We must love the word of God.

Joshua 23:14 - Heaven and earth will pass away but my word will stand forever. My confidence must be centered in Christ.

Romans 8:38-39 – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Paul wrote that nothing will separate us from the love of God. We must be mindful in our prayer life that nothing will separate us from God’s love. Confidence enables us to endure.

1 Peter 4:12 – Blessed are you if you are enduring. When you suffer God is glorified. Don’t be surprised when you face trials. The same thing that happens to us happens to everyone, but since we are the body of Christ we will be delivered.

Judgment begins with us first.

We have the assurance that God will keep us.

  • I am a child of God
  • I am saved and sanctified
  • I have the heart of God on my mind

If I have iniquity in my heart God won’t hear me. When you pray to God remove all distractions, come to God alone.

Give God glory when you pray. Give to others out of the abundance of what God has given to you. Jesus loves a cheerful giver. Remain in the anointing. Honor the Lord by reflecting the anointing. They should be able to see that you’re a Christian.

You are the light of the world. Cultivate the God kind of faith. Negative faith and positive faith can come by the same means – What we listen to and what we believe. Everyone has faith. We need the God-kind of faith if we want to operate in the kingdom.

Psalm 33:9 – For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. He spoke and it was done. God spoke the universe into existence. When you ask for something in prayer, keep speaking about it and it will manifest.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Remember that what you say is a reflection of your heart.

Faith is combined with expectation and action.

Never allow the enemy to make you profess negativity. If you say you won’t get it – you don’t get it.
They preach themselves out of it.
